LBJ Elementary: Mrs. Arispe’s 5th grade students engage in structured academic conversations during a Jigsaw activity. A Structured Conversation is a process for grouping students in order to allow for academic conversation, social interaction, and peer thinking. Structured conversations are essential in developing the skills and culture necessary for collaborative work. They increase learning and build trust by accomplishing respectful and substantive tasks as the students work together.
LBJ Elementary:
Ms. Lares’ 4th grade students learned about listening with attention during their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) time. The students enjoyed the activity in which they had to listen to a message and retell it to the person next to them. Once the last person received the message they would tell the class what it was. The class would then realize how important it is to listen with attention. Otherwise the message was drastically changed. It was fun! 😃
LBJ Elementary:
Ms. Lares’ 4th grade students compared whole numbers up to the hundred millions. In this particular activity they used a die to create two different numbers. They would then use the place value to compare and see which was greater than, less than, or equal to.
