Edcouch-Elsa ISD Spreads Holiday Cheer with Annual Toy Drive

Elsa, Texas – December 19, 2023 – Edcouch-Elsa ISD once again brings joy and happiness to the community with its heartwarming annual Toy Drive. Led by dedicated students from a number of clubs and athletic programs-  Human Services Club, Football, Basketball, DECA, FIRE/LAW students, 9th grade Student Council, Community Health Workers, Esport Team, Cosmetology & Barber students, and EEHS Staff- the initiative aims to brighten the holiday season for children in need while fostering the spirit of giving within the student body.

Kendall Gandaría, a passionate 12th-grade student and aspiring business administration scholar, articulated the profound impact of the Toy Drive, "Seeing the children get excited and happy is all worth it. Knowing that this might be the only gift this Christmas makes this experience all the more important." Gandaría's dedication to both community service and academic pursuits underscores the holistic development fostered by initiatives like the Toy Drive.

Jaqueline Sepulveda, who serves as Historian for the club, shared her sentiments, "Immediately after Thanksgiving, it was full throttle ahead with the Toy Drive. This drive brings so much happiness to me because it's the holidays. The holidays are about getting gifts, but it is also about giving back and the greatest gift of all—cherishing your family."

“The Toy Drive is led by students with the support of our amazing teachers and staff. Beyond the gifts, this Toy Drive instills empathy and teaches our young minds the amazing impact that kindness and solidarity can bring. Students helping students make the holidays brighter by being the light,” shared Dr. Jesse Fidelio Garza, Public Relations & Parental Outreach Administrator for Edcouch-Elsa ISD.

The Toy Drive is a labor of love and stands as a testament to the power of unity and compassion in creating positive change within the community. The overwhelming support from students, faculty, and the community at large underscores the collective effort to spread joy and goodwill this holiday season.
