Santiago Garcia Elementary's Mrs. Lisa Treviño Gifted 200 Books by STLC

Edcouch-Elsa, TX — [December 11, 2023] — Santiago Garcia Elementary School is proud to announce that one of its esteemed educators, Lisa Treviño, has been the recipient of a generous donation of 200 books from the South Texas Literacy Coalition (STLC). The donation is a testament to Mrs. Treviño's commitment to early childhood literacy.

The South Texas Literacy Coalition, comprising over 35 members and organizations, is dedicated to promoting literacy across the region. In 2022 alone, the coalition distributed over 120,000 books, aiming to transform lives and communities through the profound impact of literacy.

Expressing her passion for promoting literacy, Mrs. Lisa Treviño emphasized, "I love books and I love to promote reading. These books that the South Texas Literacy Coalition provided are very expensive, and knowing that they're going into the hands of our students is an incredible feeling."

With this generous donation of 200 books, Treviño has not only enhanced her classroom library but also extended the gift to her fellow teachers, Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Rodriguez. "As a kindergarten teacher, it's never too early to start getting students involved with reading," Mrs. Treviño shared, highlighting the importance of early literacy engagement.

The donation from the South Texas Literacy Coalition will significantly impact the educational journey of Santiago Garcia Elementary's students, fostering a culture of reading and learning within the school community.

"We are immensely grateful to the South Texas Literacy Coalition for their dedication to advancing literacy in our region and for these books, which will undoubtedly inspire a lifelong love for reading among our students," shared Dr. Jesse Fidelio Garza, Public Relations & Parental Outreach Administrator.
