Edcouch-Elsa ISD ACE Program Introduction

The ACE program is funded by the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers Federal Grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Education.  The purpose of this grant is to support the academic goals of each participating school campus by providing intentional after-school enrichment activities that enhance school day learning.  It is designed to serve those students most in need.  The ACE program is in its fifth year of the five-year grant cycle.

Program Objectives and Services

ACE program activities are offered in the four elementary schools, Carlos F. Truan Junior High, and in the high school.  Each of these ACE program sites (schools) has developed a unique customized program that is aligned to support each school’s goals.  The goal of ACE is to help students reach their academic and personal goals by giving students opportunities to experience life-learning and life-changing experience. .  Its objectives are to offer an array of enrichment activities that helps improve students’ academic achievement in reading, math, and science, student engagement, school attendance, and family engagement.

The ACE program will offer:

  • Academic enrichment in core subject areas,

  • Other enrichment activities such as Homework help, STEMS/STEAMS, dance, cheer, folkloric, sports (non-UIL), NASP Archery, Chess, Guitar, Conjunto/Accordion, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Greenpower USA Electric Racing Car Club, Sewing Club, Robotics, Gaming, Arts & Crafts, Photography Club, Gardening Club, Spirit Club, and much more.

  • Family engagement activities that help adults support their children in their education.

 

The ACE program also offers a six weeks Summer Program in conjunction with the Texas Parks & Wildlife COOP grant project known as the EEISD Outdoor Youth Adventure Project.  Many outdoor recreational activities, such as camping, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, archery, and outdoor cooking, are offered.

Program Schedule

The ACE program will offer 28 weeks of activities during the fall, spring, and six weeks summer term for a total of 34 weeks.  The ACE Afterschool Program schedule is as follow for the 2025-2026 school year:

ACE is offered Monday through Friday during the Fall and Spring Semester. 

Elementary Campuses – JFK Elem., LBJ Elem., RCR Elem., and SG Elem.

 Before School:   7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

 Afterschool:   3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

 Carlos F. Truan Junior High

 Before School:  6:45 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.

 Afterschool:   4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

 Edcouch-Elsa High School:

 Before School:  7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

 Afterschool:   4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
