PFC DYMS Paleontology Club get Pre-Historic

The PFC David Ybarra Middle School Paleontology Club had an opportunity to go to Canyon Lake and learn from a Real life Paleontologist “Dinosaur George”. Dinosaur George is one of the leading presenters of Pre-Historic Fossils in the State and the Nation. He has even traveled to other parts of the world to do his presentations. The PFC DYMS Club was very fortunate to get him to present (For Free) to only our students. Our students saw million year old dinosaur tracks that have been found in Canyon lake, Texas. These tracks were berried for millions of years until a young boy (Middle School age) discovered them at a sight that was being excavated for new homes. Dinosaur George taught our students about the various dinosaurs that lived in the Rio Grande Valley millions of years ago (A small dog that lived in trees and the relatives of the Wolly Mammoth) and about others that lived in Texas. Finally, the trip ended with Dinosaur George taking our Paleontology Club to dig for their own fossils. It was amazing. Our students were able to dig up and keep the fossils of sea creatures that lived millions of years ago and had never been touched by human hands. Our students became Paleontologists.
